ICC World Cup 2019: Mark Waugh Reveals Top Three Batsmen

Former Australian opener Mark Waugh has picked his top three batsmen for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. It is expected to be a high-scoring tournament and the batsmen are going to play a key role. The competition is going to be tough, as the best in the business will take on each other. Waugh rated Indian captain Virat Kohli as the number one batsman in the World.

Virat Kohli is the most consistent batsman in the game and he is going to hold the key for the India National Cricket Team. Kohli has scored runs all around the globe and he keeps getting better with every game. On the other hand, Mark Waugh picked England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler and Australia’s opener David Warner as the other two best batters.

Virat Kohli, Jos Buttler and David Warner are World’s best batters.

Jos Buttler has the skills to turn the match on its head with his pyrotechnics. Buttler provides the finishing touches to the England team and he is going to be pivotal for the hosts.

On the other hand, David Warner made a roaring comeback to competitive cricket after a year-long ban. Warner was the highest run-getter in the Indian Premier League as he scored 692 runs in the 12 matches he played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Consequently, he would like to carry his good form going in the World Cup.

Mark Waugh also said that Australia’s captain Aaron Finch is also right there with the best. Finch scored his last century against Pakistan and returned back to form in style. Thus, Finch and Warner will like to bring their best to the table.

“Definitely Virat Kohli,” Waugh told cricket.com.au. “He’s No.1.”

“Jos Buttler, I’d have him at No.2 in the top three,” he said.

“Aaron Finch at his best is right up there, so is David Warner,” said Waugh. “I’ll go with David Warner.”

Virat Kohli is at the culmination of the ICC ODI rankings and he would like to deliver the goods for the team. Buttler is also in fine form and he is going to hold the key for England.

India will begin their World Cup preparation with the warm-up match against New Zealand. The Men in Blue will begin their World Cup campaign against South Africa on 5th June.
