Ajinkya Rahane and Rajasthan Royals’ campaign in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 ended prematurely as the former champions failed to make it to the ongoing playoffs stage of the T20 tournament.

Ajinkya Rahane seems to be making best use of a break between his busy schedule as the India batsman took to social media to upload of a photograph of him relaxing in front of a television set at home. While doing so, Rahane also asked his followers on Instagram to predict what he was watching on TV.

While suggestions ranged from Avengers Endgame to the pilot episode of popular American thriller series, Designated Survivor, Rahane’s India teammate Shikhar Dhawan came up with a tongue-in-cheek reply.

“TV, Aur Kya? (TV, What else),” Dhawan wrote on Instagram.

Rahane has been struggling for form over the last few months. The Indian Test vice-captain was sacked as captain of Rajasthan Royals midway through the tournament and was replaced by Australia’s Steve Smith who returned to the IPL after missing the last season due to ball-tampering ban.

Rahane though return to form as he smashed his second IPL hundred in the second match after he was stripped of the captaincy. Incidentally, he smashed 105 against Delhi Capitals but Rajasthan Royals lost the match after Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant hit quickfire half-centuries.

Rahane managed only 644 runs in 12 Test matches in 2018 at an average of 30.66, well below his career average and failed to score even a hundred.

Having not considered for the 2019 World Cup, Rahane will head to England to play county championships for Hampshire in a bid to prepare for India’s tour of West Indies that marks the start of World Test Championships.
