Yet another controversy struck the Indian Premier League last night in a match between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. A run-out is being debated and rightly so because it was the only dismissal this season when the batsman collided with the bowler before being run-out.
The incident took place in the last over of the first innings, Keemo Paul was bowling to Deepak Hooda. Hooda missed the ball and it went directly to the wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant, Hooda was already off the crease for a single but he collided with the bowler midway. Rishabh Pant threw the ball and it hit the stumps as Hooda couldn’t complete his run.
The umpires asked Hooda to wait before they confirmed it with the third umpire and the decision was out. Hooda was nodding his head while leaving the ground which showed his disappointment. But before he was given out, umpires requested Delhi Capitals’ captain Shreyas Iyer to withdraw his appeal and he was willing to do so. Rishabh Pant intervened and convinced his captain that it was a genuine run-out and asked him not to withdraw his appeal.

But in the end, Delhi Capitals won the tightly fought match by 2 wickets as they moved a stage forward to play Chennai Super Kings in the qualifier two in Vizag. Rishabh Pant was awarded the man of the match for turning the game upside down with his quickfire 49 runs. Prithvi Shaw also played a good innings as he scored 56 runs.
